Things to See and Do

Peebles is an attractive town set within the dramatic scenery of the Tweed Valley. Its reputation as a holiday resort began in Victorian times and continues to this day.

Here are a list of things that we love to see and do when we visit Peebles.

Adventure

Bike Gears

Glentress, one of the 7 Stanes Mountain biking trails.

Boasting a range of trails to suit families to serious mountain bikers, Glentress is only three miles away from Peebles. The views over Peebles and the Caddon hills are spectacular. The Peels café is at the bottom of hill and serves lovely filling dishes, including our favourite, beans on toast. Just what you need after a ride. There are bikes for hire or hosepipes to clean your bike if you brought your own. Glentress is also a haven for wildlife with ponds full of frogs and an opportunity to watch Ospreys nesting.

Go Ape

Just a short walk from the Peels Cafe is Go Ape. This aerial adventure takes you through the tree tops. You will need a head for heights as you climb from tree to tree and take a breath taking zip-line across the valley.

Horse Riding at Kailzie Equestrian Centre

What could be more wonderful than pony trekking through the dramatic scenery of the Tweed Valley? The centre has horses and ponies to suit all riders from beginners to those with more experience.

Paths Around Peebles

There are many great walks around Peebles. Walking down to Neidpath Castle is one of our favourites. It can be found in the booklet ‘Paths around Peebles’ which can be downloaded from this link: www.scotborders.gov.uk/downloads/file/681/peebles. There should be a paper copy in the flat and paper copies are available at the Tourist Information and The John Buchan Story.
